  • NAGA CITY (29 November) -- IN A SIMPLE PROGRAM held at the Villa Caceres Hotel here, Saturday morning (November 28) members of the "Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)," its Community Advisory Board, and managers of community radios all over Camarines Sur province, aired a joint statement over region-wide radio-broadcast, condemning the brutality of the "Maguidanao Massacre" last November 23.

  • NAGA CITY (11 December) -Camarines Sur Representative Dato Arroyo is willing to recommend to the National Irrigation Administration the temporary suspension of the construction of the P1.9 billion Libmanan-Cabusao dam project amid "social acceptability concerns," Presidential Assistant Secretary for Bicol Affairs Tomasito Monson said Tuesday.

    "Congressman Arroyo said he would recommend to concerned agencies especially National Irrigation Administration to conduct further study on the effects of the dam to surrounding areas."

  • The month of May marks another significant event for the fisheries sector as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) - Bicol installs Mr. Marco C. Visperas of Aroroy, Masbate as its 5th Fisherfolk Regional Director (FRD).

    The formal installation and turn-over of the ceremonial key was held at BFAR Regional Office, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur on May 11, 2009.

    BFAR OIC-Regional Director Dennis V. Del Soccoro graciously turned-over the symbolic key to Mr. Visperas as witnessed by BFAR employees and fisherfolk leaders.

  • NAGA CITY - MORE THAN 80 barangay captains and dwellers along the railroad localities met with Philippine National Railway (PNR) General Manager Manuel "Ower" Andal during a consultation at the Cam. Sur National High School complex, on the rehabilitation program of the PNR and the relocation of more than 2,000 families of informal settlers along the rail tracks in the adjoining Camarines Sur and Albay provinces.

  • LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 26- The tri-media in Albay on Tuesday urged Congress to pass the proposed measure on information freedom before it adjourns next month.

    This was during an advocacy forum titled "Stop Killing Journalists" held here, with Nacionalista Party spokesperson Gilbert Remulla as resource person.

    "Time is running out and only few days are left for the both houses of Congress to pass the bill," Dondie Belason of Bombo Radyo Legazpi said.

  • DARAGA, Albay --- Government engineers will speed up the construction of the Binitayan bridge here following the release of a P40 million promised by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Albay Representative Al Francis Bichara disclosed over the weekend.

    Bichara said President Arroyo in her recent visit here directed Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Bikol to immediately release the amount for the construction of a new bridge in this town.

  • Legazpi City (25 January) -- Police operatives arrested 13 persons in various police checkpoints in three provinces of Bikol region for violation of the nationwide gun ban imposed b the Commission on Election (COMELEC).
