  • Naga City -  Some  300 organic farming practitioners, advocates and enthusiasts  will  gather on October 13 to 15 for the  6th national Organic Conference  at the Villa Caceres Hotel in this city  to discuss   current and emerging  issues  confronting the sector    to collectively  address these challenges ; and to promote  their products and services  to the public and potential clients and link up with   other  sectors  and institutions towards creating a more vibrant sector.

  • PILI, CAMARINES SUR (21 October) -Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund "LRay" Villafuerte Jr., national chairman of the League of Provinces of the Philippines, bolted the Lakas-CMD which he served as deputy spokesman, and took oath as the latest biggest recruit of the Nacionalista Party (NP) headed by Sen. Manny Villar, bringing along with him Vice-Gov. Salvio Fortuno and over a thousand incumbent leaders of the province.

  • NAGA City (28 November) --  Tomas "Nonoy" Rentoy VII (30-199) and Irvin C. Ayo (30-54) last November 27 were elected as the new chapter president and chairman of the board, respectively, of the Kabalikat Bicol Naga City (KB30) Chapter effective January 1 - December 31, 2010.

    Rentoy, one of the pillars of KB Bicol and the perennial operations chief of the chapter, will replace Engr. Salvador "Buddy" Altar (30-129) who steered the KB30 chapter with flying colors.  Altar was elected as the vice chairman of the board.

  • BACACAY, Albay, Nov. 10, 2009- At least 400 priests from the Archdiocese of Caceres and the Dioceses Legazpi, Sorsogon, Daet, Masbate, Libmanan and Virac have gathered at the Bethlehem Retreat Center, this town for their regional clergy retreat which began yesterday and will end on Friday.

    The retreat is centered on the theme "Revisiting the Priesthood in the Light of St. John Mary Vianney's Life and Example."

  • Legazpi City (14 January) -- An agency traditionally dominated and led by male, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Bikol now has a fresh twist on the onset of the brand new year as a the newly designated female regional chief commences her reigns of the bureau.

  • Naga City -- The Philosophy Department of the Ateneo de Naga University is sponsoring a regional convention on Philippine politics as part of its annual Philosophy Week celebration.

    Dubbed "Decoding Philippine Politics: An Interdisciplinary Approach," the convention features lectures from noted author and Bikol historian Danilo M. Gerona, Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG) director Bobby Tuazon, human rights lawyer Atty. José Maria Carpio, and Marxist scholar and Ateneo de Naga President Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J., among others.

  • CANAMAN, CAM. SUR - AFTER THE CITY GOVERNMENT of Naga had ignored an appeal by more than 30 business establishments, including a school and a hospital to reconsider the removal of barricades in the implementation of a "one-way" experimental traffic along Panganiban Drive since May last year, Public Works regional director Danilo C. Manalang had intervened by directing the local DPWH district to notify the City government of the removal of the said obstructions along Panganiban Drive, a national highway.

  • ROME, Jan. 26, 2010-- In his homily during the celebration of Vespers at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls on Monday evening, Benedict XVI outlined the essential elements of convergence between all Christian faiths. He also called for a "new, intense evangelization" to respond to important issues in the world today.

  • Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) and long-time partner, PhilHealth, recently signed a memorandum of agreement whereby PVB will be providing PhilHealth Region 3 employees ATM and payroll services including PVB's unique "5-in-1" card that works as a company ID, ATM, timekeeping card, debit card, and discount card .   • MANILA, Dec. 16, 2009─A formation program for pastoral workers under the auspices of the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI) of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has recently been adapted by neighboring Asian countries for training their migrant workers.

    The Exodus program provides pastoral workers the opportunity to learn more about migration realities and let them appreciate the work they had been doing.
