CAMSUR Broadcasters Condemn “Maguindanao Massacre
NAGA CITY (29 November) -- IN A SIMPLE PROGRAM held at the Villa Caceres Hotel here, Saturday morning (November 28) members of the "Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)," its Community Advisory Board, and managers of community radios all over Camarines Sur province, aired a joint statement over region-wide radio-broadcast, condemning the brutality of the "Maguidanao Massacre" last November 23.
President of the KBP Camarines Sur chapter, "Energy FM" station manager Emman Llagas, read the joint statement broadcasted on Saturday with the title, "Dismantle the Roots of Violence, Greed and Injustice."
In the joint statement, the KBP president described the "Maguindanao massacre" as "a ruthless brutality [that] has its roots, which permeate our society today, in the absence of justice and the institutionalized travesty of human dignity."
He added that despite Malacañang's guarantee that perpetrators will not escape justice as the law will hunt them down, "as members of the fourth State, we must ask for more, because we can do more," Llagas stated.
"Vigilantibus sed non dormientibus jura subverniunt. The law aids the vigilant, not those who sleep on their rights," the KBP president highlighted in his statement.
The KBP provincial chapter and other media participants simultaneously aired their indignation of the brutal and senseless killings of at least 22 journalists in the "Maguindanao Massacre" last Saturday with similar out-pouring of sentiments from the media nationwide.
Llagas together with other KBP members: PBS, DWRB, Sammy Garcia; RMN, DWNX, Al Ubaña; ABS-CBN TV/MOR, Amy Villafuerte; DWOS, FM, Sonia "Aling Sonia" Leaño; BBS DWLV, Joel Buena; DZGE, DWEB, Orbel Cepeda, RPN-9, DZKI, Jimmy Hiam; PBN, DWOK-FM, Gerry Geralde; PBN-TV 5, Christine Ojeda; Home Radio, Benz Abino, "Bombo Radyo" Angie Galipo; and CBC DWAR, Joel Crescini, all participated in the reading of the joint-statement.
