UNEP High School Stude Competes for the National Step Competition

After winning the much coveted title as MR. STEP 2009 , Patrick Allan V. Peralta is now all set to represent not just the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) in the upcoming National STEP Competition, but all his fellow Bikolanos as well as he competes for the national title comes January 2010.

Peralta defeated his other competitors, capped the crown as Mr. STEP 2009 and has earned for himself the Best in Filipiniana Attire and Best in Swim Wear titles during the 2009 Students Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP-DSC) competition conducted on September 16 and 17 at Zeperino Arroyo High School in Iriga City.

UNEP High School Principal, Mrs. Maria P. Dela Vega said that the whole UNEP community under the stewardship of their dynamic University President, Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, fully supports this endeavor.

"Every student of UNEP is an embodiment of a dream realized...a representation of our university's unyielding desire to give the best quality education to every student.  We will continue to persevere in enhancing the humble distinction of being the home of global achievers, truly living up to the vision of our dear UNEP matriarch, Dr. Remedios "Wawa"  R. Alfelor," she said.

Peralta who represented the Iriga City Division during the STEP Regional Competition is the 15 year old son of Ma. Veronica A. Vargas and Allan S. Peralta. He is a 3rd Year High School Student of the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP). He hails from San Miguel, Iriga City .

Aside from grabbing the main title in the search, UNEP High School Department was also declared 1st runner up during the competition participated in by public and private secondary schools in the division. This is in compliance with DepEd  Memorandum No.348 series of 2009 under this year's theme, " STEP: Upgrading Skills, Improving Lives."

It aims to enhance the capability of the students in skills development and lifelong learning and upgrade the teachers' capability in coaching and judging skills development activities.
