PILI, Camarines Sur - Twenty talented and glamorous young Bikolana lasses will contend for this year's Miss Kaogma and other crowns and hefty prizes after the initial eliminations conducted last Saturday, May 16 at the Bamboo Grille of Eco Village at the Provincial Capitol Complex.
The Search for Miss Kaogma Pageant fully supported by Governor LRay Villafuerte is a major highlight of the Kaogma Festival celebrated annually to mark the Foundation Anniversary of the province.
Selected from a deluge of aspirants during the initial screening were Joahnna M. Sanchez, Catherine Mae G. Trespeces, Jexmine Anne C. Victoria, Rosette Marie A. Clemente, Lalaine San Gabriel and Rae Anne Tipones of Naga City; Ma. Jaime L. Walo and Ma. Farah B. Lopez of Pili; Suzain P. Aguilar and Mernilli B. Tabasa of Bula; Shecill Bhertie S. Bagaporo and Katherine Dominique C. Lagrimas of Iriga City; Ma. Theresa Tamon and Maricel de Dios of Milaor, Cherry Rose Juico of Caramoan; Elaine T. Moll of Buhi; Crystal B. Abarientos of Canaman; Thea Dominique C. Llana of Legaspi City; and Kristine Yvette F. Espana of Daet, Camarines Norte.
The contestants will be billeted starting May 23 up to May 29 at the Eco Village where they will be presented to the media at 10:00 a.m. on May 25. Final selections followed by coronation rites will be at 7:00 p.m. on May 29 at the Kaogma Main Stage.
Aside from the Miss Kaogma '09 crown which carries among others a P100,000 cash prize, other titles at stake are Miss Camarines Sur worth P50,000 and Miss Kaogma-Tourism who will be entitled to P40,000.
Other awards and recognition include Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Best in Production Number, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and Best in Designer awards with corresponding cash prizes.
Dingdong Dantes and Bobby Yan will be the pageant's hosts-emcees. (GBClaveria/MMEC)
