I thought I’d share with our readers some salient points of my lecture for fellow lawyers at the UP Law Center in Diliman, Quezon City, on Nov. 15, as part of our compliance with Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) as decreed by the Supreme Court.

Let me apologize first for mentioning Araneta University in my Aug. 16 article "Pinoy DLP v. American UbD" instead of ARELLANO among hundreds of schools nationwide that have embraced the revolutionary Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) for high school developed by our Filipino physicists and 2010 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees Dr. Christopher Bernido and Dr. Maria Victoria Carpio-Bernido. Arellano is also working with both scientists-educators to use DLP even in college and elementary.

In Ateneo de Naga University, the student photographers of the Department of Media Studies have photographed the Bikol River, or at least its vanishing, dying tributary called the Naga River. In the process, they are discovering what the great photographer of monumental landscapes, Ansel Adams, thinks of photograph as "that instrument of love and revelation."

US President Barack Obama brought hope to the American people amid the deep economic crisis confronting what is supposedly the biggest and strongest nation in the world. He ran under the banner of change. And the American people propelled him to power in an unprecendented manner, in a mass movement of sorts where volunteers turned out en masse to raise funds and take on campaign tasks.

Reports coming from all over leave no doubt as to the scope and magnitude of corruption and cheating in the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. During our Clergy General Assembly held last Tuesday, every priest present said that vote-buying and selling were rampant in their respective places of assignment and home towns. Radyo Veritas Legazpi and other local radio stations, as well as our local PPCRV units also confirmed this widespread terrible state of affairs.
