Apostleship of Prayer Holds Lenten Recollection
Apostleship of Prayer(AP), under the leadership of Ret. Judge Novelita Llaguno, held Lenten Recollections for its members with Wilmer S. Tria as speaker. Fr. Tria is AP’s Archdiocesan Spiritual Director.
Held on March 20 and April 2, 2011, the recollection centered on following Christ based on Thomas á Kempis’s spiritual book “The Imitation of Christ.” Published in the 1500’s, the book received wide acceptance as a “manual of devotion.” Fr. Tria and Judge Llaguno have collaborated to publish a Bikol translation, "An Pagsunod ki Kristo." The Bikol translation, with Msgr. Rodel Cajot’s Nihil Obstat and Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi’s Imprimatur were launched during the day-long recollection.
The discourse revolved around “the power of prayer, atonement, the need for sacrifice and giving alms." These are the traditional practices of Catholics in observance of the Lenten season.
Participants gave ample real accounts of their experiences about the power of prayer. One participant said that “she believed that through prayer, she was healed from cancer and eleven more years have been added to her lifetime, now she is happy with her family and serving God by being a member of Apostleship of Prayer.”
The recollection was held at Señor Avelinos, fronting USI. “We are happy to be part of AP’s special activity.We are inviting everyone to come at Señor Avelino’s Resto & Grill." says Ms. Gemma Goingo, OIC of Senior Avelinos. "For students, it’s a study hall. For religious groups, it’s a place to recollect. Señor Avelino’s is ready to nourish anyone, physical, mental, and even spiritual.”
Participants came from as far as Buhi, Nabua, Iriga, Lagonoy, Tigaon, Calabanga, and as near as Naga City, Canaman, Magarao and Bombon.
