More than 50,000 people crammed into nearly 1,000 evacuation centers across Mindanao by early yesterday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

A report from Davao Oriental said six people also died in the province and six others in the town of Mabini, Compostela Valley.

Naga City (1:00 AM Dec 4, 2012) - Super typhoon 'Pablo' (International Name: Bopha) has intensified further few hours before its expected landing somewhere in Surigao del Sur or Davao Oriental.

At midnight today (one hour ago), its center was spotted 173 km East Southeast of Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.

Typhoon expert David Michael V. Padua of Weather.com.ph projects that Pablo shall be an 'extremely catastrophic Category 5 Supertyphoon' when it hits land somewhere along Cateel Bay, Davao Oriental at 4-6 AM today as it packs a sustained center wind of 260 km/hour and gusts up to 315 kph .

Pablo is almost 3 times the strength of Sendong that crossed North-Central Mindanao on December 16, 2011 wiping out entire villages and leaving 1200 dead.

This Super Tyhoon can become the most devastating typhoon ever to hit Mindanao since Super Typhoon Kate (Titang) in October 1970.

Manila Philippines 11:55PM) - Typhoon "PABLO" has accelerated as it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It's center was spotted at 10:00 PM today 810 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and is moving generally West-Northwest at 26 kph with maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 220 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has placed 20 provinces/geographic entities under Typhoon signal no. 1, which means that these areas shall experience winds of 30-60 kph in at least 36 hours or intermittent rains may be expected within 36 hours:

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang yesterday urged the people to be prepared and follow government warnings and advisories on a strong typhoon expected to hit the country next week.

“Pablo” (international name Bopha) is now considered a strong typhoon pushing west and threatening Palau and then the eastern seaboard of the Philippines.

The Visayas and Mindanao will start to feel the effects of the typhoon on Tuesday going in to Wednesday, reports said.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said there is no need for Malacañang to issue orders all the time for the departments and agencies as well as the local government units to make sure that the areas affected would be prepared for the approaching typhoon.

MANILA, Philippines (June 18 2012 9:00 A.M.) - Typhoon “Butchoy” (international name Guchol) was just below Super Typhoon threshold as it started to recurve NNE towards Okinawa and Ryukyu Islands and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), however, warned the public yesterday that Butchoy can still trigger heavy rains and storm surges.

Typhoon Butchoy will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (aka. Habagat) across Northwestern Visayas & Western Luzon including Metro Manila & Subic today. Breezy to windy conditions & cloudy skies w/ occasional to widespread rains, thunderstorms & squalls will be expected. The seas along the coastal areas along the West Philippine and Visayan Sea will be moderate to rough & dangerous.

MANILA, Philippines (8:00 A.M., June 15, 2012) - BUTCHOY (International name: GUCHOL) has strengthened rapidly into a full-blown Typhoon as it slowed down after it moved West-Southwest over the past 12 hours. The typhoon is anticipated to make a sharp turn towards the northwest within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Butchoy is not expected to land anywhere in its track but is forecast to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (aka. Habagat) Mindanao beginning today and across the whole Philippine Islands on Saturday through Monday. Breezy to windy conditions & cloudy skies w/ occasional to widespread rains, thunderstorms & squalls will be expected. The seas along the coastal areas along the West Philippine and Visayan Sea will become moderate to rough & dangerous.

Naga City (12:00 AM Sunday April 29, 2012) - It shall be rainy in Mindanao today, as a low pressure area over Philippine Sea thought to have dissipated 24 hours suddenly regenerated and is now gaining convective rainbands as it nears Southern & Eastern Mindanao targetting Davao Provinces.

The center is located about 480 km East-Southeast of Davao City or 509 km East of General Santos City (6.0N 129.8E) and is moving Northwest at 15 kilometers per hour towards Eastern Mindanao. Maximum winds is expected to be within 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

This weather disturbance is expected to bring scattered to widespread rains with squalls and thunderstorms across Mindanao today. (typhoon2000.com)

NAGA CITY (3:00 AM, Dec 17, 2011) - Tropical Storm Sendong (Washi) retains it strength - centerwind of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness up to 100 kph. - after crossing Agusan Del Sur and Bukidnon late last night, passing near Cagayan De Oro City.

Strong winds and widespread rains are now lashing Western Mindanao and Southern Visayas as Sendong moves West Northwest over Iligan Bay at 26 kilometers per hour (kph) towards the province of Misamis Occidental and the cities of Dapitan and Dipolog, which are just about 100 kilometers (km) away.

NAGA CITY (9:00 AM, Dec 17, 2011) - Maintaining its strength, Tropical Storm Sendong (International name: Washi) now heads for Sulu Sea after passing close to the twin cities of Dipolog and Dapitan and now threatens southern Palawan where it is expected to traverse early Sunday morning.

Sendong still packs a centerwind of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness up to 100 kph, which is expected to still intensify as it travels over Sulu Sea at 31 kph in West Northwest direction.

Tropical Storm Sendong (International name: Washi) intensified overnight and is expected make landfall this afternoon (approx 1-2 PM local time) near Bislig City in Surigao del Sur and still endangers the rest of Northern Mindanao and the Southern Visayas.

As of 6:00 AM today (Friday, Dec 16), the center of Sendong was spotted 265 kilometers (km) East Souteast of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur or 375 km East Souteast of Butuan City or at coordinates 7.5º North Latitude 128.6º East Longitude. The tropical storm now packs a centerwind of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 95 kph and was moving directly Westward at 31 kph towards the Surigao Del Sur-Agusan Del Sur provinces.

Tropical Storm Sendong (International name: Washi) now endangers Northern Mindanao and Southern Visayas as it maintains its fast West to West-Northwest movement.

As of 6:00 PM Thursday (Dec 15), the center of Sendong was spotted 545 kilometers (km) East Souteast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 668 km Souteast of Surigao City with centerwind of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 85 kph and was moving directly Westward at 30 kph towards the Surigao provinces.

Tropical Storm Sendong (International name: Washi) now endangers Northern Mindanao and Southern Visayas as it maintains its fast West to West-Northwest movement.

NAGA CITY (Sep 25, 2011) - Typhoon Pedring (International name: NESAT) was spotted 9:00 A.M. today north east of the Bicol region is moving fast at 28 kilometers per hour (kph) west-northwesterly towards the Aurora province.

Pedring is now 235 kilometers Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with maintained centerwind of 150 kph with gusts up to 185.

It is expected to become a Category 4 Typhoon early Tuesday morning as it approaches the coast of Aurora wiith a centerwind up to 250 kph...

NAGA CITY  (Aug 28, 2011 12:30 P.M.) - Typhoon Mina (International name: Nanmadol) has already killed 6 in the Philippines and now takes aim at Taiwan. Its core has started to move away from the Batanes Group as it moves directly northward towards Southern Taiwan at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

NAGA CITY  (Aug 28, 2011 12:30 P.M.) - Typhoon Mina (International name: Nanmadol) has already killed 6 in the Philippines and now takes aim at Taiwan. Its core has started to move away from the Batanes Group as it moves directly northward towards Southern Taiwan at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

Mina has weakened into a Category 2 storm with wind velocity of 165 kph (90 kts) near the center and gusts up to 205 kph.

Peak wind gusts near the center reach 305 kph.

NAGA CITY Philippines  (Aug 1, 2011, 4:00 A.M.) - Luzon is now in between two weather systems - a weakening Super Typhoon Kabayan far in the East and a consolidating weak Tropical Depression (Low Pressure Area or LPA) in the West.

Kabayan (International name: Muifa) has lost its Super Typhoon status but remains a powerful Category 4 Typhoon that is moving slowly North-Northeastward across the North Philippine Sea. Its far distance, however, attenuates its effects in population areas of the country.

At 6:00 P.M. today, the eye of the tropical storm was located 1060 kilometers  East of Virac, Catanduanes at coordinates 13.9º North Latitude 134.0º East Longitude with sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gusts up to 120 kph.

NAGA CITY (July 27, 2011 8:00 A.M.) - Tropical Storm Juaning(International name: Nock-ten) has rapidly gained strength as it approaches the coast of Aurora.

NAGA CITY (July 27, 2011 8:00 A.M.) - Tropical Storm Juaning(International name: Nock-ten) has rapidly gained strength as it approaches the coast of Aurora.

Juaning has now a sustained center wind of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts up to 130 kph. With a diameter of 555 kilometers, Juaning's rainbands cover the whole of Luzon including Northern Bicol.

The storm now moves West Nothwest at 13 kph towards the general direction of Aurora-Northern Luzon.

NAGA City Philippines (July 26, 2011 2:30 P.M.) - 'Juaning' has been upgraded into a Tropical Storm and has slowed down in its upward movement .  As it changes its path, it now threatens Quezon, Aurora and Central Luzon provinces.

The Tropical Storm now moves Westward at 11 kilometers per hour (kph) and is expected to make landfall between Baler, Aurora and Infanta, Quezon around midnight today (between 11 PM-1 AM) then cross Nueva Ecija-Pangasinan overnight.

As of 6:00 PM today, the tropical depression was located 180 kilometers East Norheast of Virac, Cartanduanes at coordinates 14.0º North Latitude 125.8º East Longitude packing ceterwind of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 75 kilometers per hour, moving at 17 kilometers per hour towards Isabela-Cagayan area.

LPA  tagged Tropical Disturbance 98W  is way off  Batanes islands but still brings rains and thunderstorms.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) tagged Tropical Disturbance 98W remains weak as it moves north across the North Philippine Sea, located about 575 km North Northeast of Batanes at coordiantes 24.8 North Latitude 125.1 East Longitude. This system has a low chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 hours. But it will continue to pull the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) Rains across Mindoro, Marinduque, Bicol, Palawan, Calamian Group, Romblon, Visayas and Western Luzon including Metro Manila and Southern Tagalog Provinces.
