Bro. Eddie Not Giving Way to Noynoy

MANILA, Sept. 4, 2009- Evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva of the Jesus is Lord (JIL) movement is not dropping his renewed quest for the presidency to support Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

In a statement, Bro. Eddie Villanueva vowed to pursue his presidential bid for the 2010 elections as Bangon Pilipinas' standard bearer.

Villanueva said he respects the decision of Senator Mar Roxas and Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio in uniting behind Aquino, but it will not dissuade him from pushing through with his plans for the country.

"The only way to achieve Bangon Pilipinas' vision of a new Philippines and platform of righteous governance is to stay on in the race," he said.

"Just as I respected the decision of Senator Mar Roxas as he gave way to the presidential candidacy of his fellow Liberal, Senator Noynoy Aquino, I also respect the decision of Father Ed Panlilio," he added.

Villanueva said Bangon Pilipinas offers to the electorate a true alternative in the coming 2010 polls.

Panlilio on Friday called on other candidates advocating for reforms to throw their support instead to the presidential candidacy of Aquino.

But JIL leader said "it is not about changing personalities... but a bigger and more crucial question is the question of confronting the entire nation, and that is whether we are willing to change, to go back to God's values, ways and precepts and principles concerning the blessing of a nation."
