Pro-life Month Stresses Pro-life Family Values

MANILA, Jan. 29, 2011—A series of activities aimed to highlight the value of family and sanctity of life will be part of the month-long celebration of Pro-Life month this February.

Pro-life Philippine Foundation together with the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (ECFL) and Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL) are spearheading various events to promote pro-life family values among the people.

With the theme “Filipinos, Unite for Life”, organizers aim to bring Filipinos together to fight anti-life and anti-family value system that threaten the Filipino family.

The string of month-long activities will begin with a mass on February 1 at 12:15 at the North Wing of the House of Representatives to be presided by ECFL chairman and Pampanga Archbishop Paciano Aniceto.

On February 6 at 9:30 a.m., a Eucharistic celebration will be held at the Shrine of Mary Queen of Peace at EDSA, Mandaluyong City to formally open the pro-life month.

A prolife healing mass will be officiated by Dominican priests Fr. George Moreno and Fr. Vicente Cajilig on February 10 at the Sto. Domingo Church. The 5 p.m. activity will be organized by Bro. Gonzalo Goquiolay in collaboration with the Blessed Margaret of Castello movement.

Prolifers will also pay homage to the Virgin Mary in a Marian Regatta Prayer Rally to be held in the afternoon of February 13 at the Subic Bay, in Olongapo City.

International speakers Michael Voris and Jason Evert will speak on separate conferences to the laity on February 25 at the Insular Life Auditorium, Alabang, and February 26 at the Ynares Stadium, Pasig City, respectively.

Voris` talks will delve on topics that would help reinforce the laity`s important role in supporting the pro-life cause of the church, while Evert will talk about the value of chastity and teen sexuality to the youth and church leaders.

The month-long celebration will culminate with a national convention to be held at the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center on February 27.

February as Pro-Life month was declared by the late President Corazon Aquino in 1987 when she issued Proclamation 214 stating, “February is Respect and Care for Life Month”. (CBCPNews)
