Legazpi City  - More than 10,000 visitors have flocked to Bikol for the duration of the Holy Week commemoration, reported the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Based on PCG Bicol's records, an estimated 8,900 passengers have entered the 11 ports of the region since Holy Thursday (1 April). This number was expected to have reached 10,000 by Saturday, 3 April.

NAGA CITY (29 March) - Nacionalista Party (NP) provincial chairman and incumbent Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte predicted at a news conference here on Sunday (March 28) that more defections will happen from the administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD and from the Liberal Party in Bikol.

Villafuerte made the prediction following the revelation of a Daet reporter that former Daet governor Jesus "Atoy" Typoco Jr., including his followers in that province were defecting to the NP.

LEGAZPI CITY, March 28  -- Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manuel Villar dreams big for Bikol Region where poverty incidence remains high despite a moderate 4.3 percent growth of its economy in 2008.

If he is elected president in the May polls, Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manuel Villar said he wants the income of the whole Bikol Region to be at the level being enjoyed by the country's progressive regions, including the National Capital Region (NCR).

DAET, CAMARINES NORTE (29 March) - Top leaders of the Liberal Party (LP) in this province said that the assumption of Liberal Party member Edgardo Tallado as the new governor has strengthened not only his bid for the gubernatorial post in the upcoming May Elections, but also that of Liberal Party which has fielded candidates in the entire 12 Tagalog and Bikol speaking towns of Camarines Norte.

LP member and Daet mayor Tito Sarion said the assumption of Tallado "has somehow, contributed to the solidification of the Liberal Party candidates in this province."

SAN AGUSTIN, PILI,  CAMARINES SUR (5 April) - Over 200 farmer and fisherfolk  leaders who are members of the  regional, provincial and municipal   agriculture and fishery councils (AFCs) will  converge for a 3-day  summit on climate change adaptation and disaster risk management at the  Department of Agriculture regional compound here on April 6 to April 8.

Newly installed agriculture secretary Atty. Bernie G. Fondevilla is set to deliver the keynote address and to award livelihood projects and  post-harvest facilities to farmers  and other rural-based organizations.

I am sincerely happy and grateful to be celebrating this Chrism Mass with you, especially with you, my brother priests. Up until this morning when I vested for our Mass, I was not sure I could make it. But the Lord is kind...and I stand here before you.

Sometime ago, I circularized my sincere gratitude to all of you. Everyday for more than fifty days in the hospital as a patient alongside other patients I felt in my pains to be carried on the wings of your prayers. I stands here as a concrete evidence of the power of your prayers especially to Ina.

I spent the whole Good Friday struggling with the sounds of karaoke out in the field, near our home, in the subdivision in Concepcion Grande. I was expecting the chanting of the Pasyon to commence after the rituals of drinking and eating. But from early evening of that day till dawn and from sunrise of Good Friday until sunset, the tunes coming from that shack were a mix of pop tunes and ballad and rock music.

MANILA, March 31, 2010- Militant groups and other organizations today filed disqualification cases against nominees of several party-list groups with alleged ties to the Arroyo administration.

Groups involved with election watchdog Kontra Daya campaign asked the Commission on Elections to disqualify businessman Teodorico Haresco and Eugenio Jose Lacson of the Ang Kasangga party.
