CAMSUR Police scores big on arrests of most wanted persons

Naga City (June 18, 2011) — Camarines Sur police has scored big in fighting criminal elements in the province as its operatives almost simultaneously hauled to jail more than a dozen most wanted persons.

A series of operations by the Provincial Police Office Intelligence section, RPO-5 Intelligence division and the local municipal police stations have resulted in the arrests of most wanted persons in Bato, Libmanan, Milaor, Iriga City and over 15 most wanted persons in Pili, all in Camarines Sur province.

The most notorious among them, Domingo Borromeo Talagtag, 21, considered No.1 most wanted person in Bato and member of the notorious “ Calleja-Ramos robbery-hold-up gang,” was nabbed in Salvacion, Bato the other day

The Provincial Police Office (PPO) reported, that joint team led by Bato MPS, Police Sr. Insp.Victor Azuela served a warrant of arrest against Talagtag for multiple cases: Attempted Murder under Criminal Case (CC) no. 9562 from RTC branch 37, Iriga City (recommended bail, P 120,000); Robbery, under CC no. IR-9561(bail at P80,000); Homicide,under CC no. 9563 (bail,P40,000); Violation of RA-6339 “Anti-Carnapping law under CC no. IR-9560 (bail, P40,000).”

Talagtag is also facing two charges for COMELEC Gun-Ban violation and murder, another attempted murder and several other robbery cases.

The suspect was seen in action during several criminal activities of the “Calleja-Ramos group” in 2009. The leader of the gang, Ernesto Casano Calleja, was nabbed by PNP Intelligence operatives in Biñan Laguna in October, 2010, while the rest of the gang members fell to the police early this year.

Bato Police Senior Inspector Azuela claimed only one notorious member of the Calleja group is still at large. The holdup group has terrorized business establishments in the Rinconada district, Iriga City and motorists along the Bato–Libon, Albay Diversion Road in recent years.

On Friday (June 17) the PPO also reported that incumbent barangay captain Jorge Sanches Paranal, 62, of Cawayan, Bato was also arrested by a joint police team led by Police Sr. Insp. Azuela on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by RTC branch-37 in Iriga City, on charges of Murder under CC no. IR-9625 with no bail recommended. (SONNY SALES)
