House Bill 4820 originally authored by Camarines Sur 4th district Congressman Arnulfo Fuentebella proposes to create a new province, Nueva Camarines, out the 4th and 5th districts of Camarines Sur.

On Friday (July 29) Bato Mayor Jeanette OR. Bernaldez urgently appealed for help for the 44,000 residents mostly dependent on planting root-crops, palay, and tilapia raising at Lake Bato. The town sustained the most damage among the 7 Rinconada towns in the worst flooding in the past 10-years, Bernaldez said.

Naga City (June 27) – Poles apart in their positions, Camarines Sur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and 4th district Congressman Noli Fuentebella embraced each other after a heated debate on the issue of partitioning the province of Camarines Sur during a summit held at the amphitheatre of the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) in Iriga City.

Naga City (June 27) – Poles apart in their positions, Camarines Sur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and 4th district Congressman Noli Fuentebella embraced each other after a heated debate on the issue of partitioning the province of Camarines Sur during a summit held at the amphitheatre of the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) in Iriga City.

Fuentebella and Villafuerte attended the event as guests but the listed speakers deferred to them to allow the two highest officials in the thick of the partition debate to hash out the pros and cons of the issue.

Naga City (June 21, 2011) – In reaction to Governor Villafuerte's opposition to his appointment as the Police Provincial Director of Camarines Sur, Police Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana  said that anytime he can pack up his things and leave his office here as if they do not want him to work here.

Naga City (June 21, 2011) – Anytime, he can pack up his things and leave his office here as the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Director of Camarines Sur if he is ordered to go back to Camp Crame. His assignment here is not a big deal. He can depart from this place anytime if they do not want him to work here.

This was the statement issued by Police Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana during a media conference when asked about his reaction on Governor L-Ray Villafuerte’s opposition to his appointment as Provincial Police head of Camarines Sur.

Local officials of the province of Camarines Sur, including Provincial Board members and other opponents of the bill, have left for congress to attend the said hearing

The bill was filed by 4th district congressman Noli Fuentebella late last month.

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 17, 2011) – At least 400,000 students in public elementary and high schools in the 35 towns of Camarines Sur stand to benefit from a 30 million-peso scholarship program of the provincial government, as Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and Department of Education Secretary Armi Luistro sign today the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) pertaining to the said grant.

In his speech, Gov. Villafuerte said that this scholarship program is a serious undertaking that the provincial government will see through full implementation.

Wilson Flores of Phil Star reported few days ago such revelation by the multi-awarded, 41 year-old, head of the biggest province in Bicol. Camarines Sur has already overtaken Metro Manila and Boracay in number of tourist visitors. Very soon, Hollywood stars are expected to shoot films in the province. The governor is presently the chairman of the league of provinces in the Philippines.
