Villafuertes' Early Campaign Sorties

Gov. L-Ray's son to succeed him in 2013?

Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte visits barangays, distributes goodies and plays basketball matches with locals to float the idea of his son succeeding him as governor of Camarines Sur when his 3-term limit expires in 2013.

Initial show of support took place recently in Libmanan during a public meeting and basketball exhibition match where Mayor Malin Jimenez prophesied that L-Ray's son, "Miguel “Migs” Luis Villafuerte, shall be the next governor of Camarines Sur. In apparent approval Cong. “Dato” Arroyo, former presidential son and incumbent congressman of Cam Sur 2nd Legislative District declared Gov. L-Ray, the "Father of the Province."

The father and son tandem playing with the Provincial Capitol basketball team narrowly lost 77-79 to Libmanan Selection. The Villafuertes, however, were the top scorers of the match.

Before going to Libmanan, Gov. L-Ray and son had visited Sipocot to distribute food packages, scholarhips and many other surprises.

Next stop will be the Partido area. Mayor Antero Lim hosts them in Goa before they play a night-time basketball match in San Jose against the team of Mayor Chavez.

Playing in basketball matches is a proven vote-getter for both L-Ray Villafuerte and Dato Arroyo. In 2004, Arroyo and Villafuerte gained valuable personal exposures to voters when as team mates, they played in the Basketball Christian Games, winning most of the games as they toured the entire province.
