PILI CAMARINES SUR (Sep 2, 2011) - The campaign to oppose the splitting of Camarines Sur to form a new province of Nueva Camarines took place Tuesday (August 30) at the provincial capitol convention center with a show of force of more than 2000 people that included local government officials and residents mostly wearing yellow shirts.

The slogans “Cam. Sur No! To Hati” and “No! To Bukag Cam. Sur” were written in banners and the participants' shirts.

Majority of Bikolano Representatives voted ‘yes’ in favour of impeaching Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez. Among them are Cong. Sal Fortuno (Liberal) of the 5th District of Cam. Sur, Cong. Luis Villafuerte (NPC) of the 3rd District of Cam. Sur, and three (3) Ako Bikol representatives.

Those who voted ‘no’ were Cong. Dato Arroyo of the 2nd District of Cam. Sur, Nonoy Andaya of the 1st District of Cam. Sur, Elmer Panotes of the 2nd District of Cam. Norte, and Minority Floor Leader Edcel Lagman of the  1st District of Albay.
