Gov. Villafuerte, Sec. Luistro Sign Scholarship MOA

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 17, 2011) – At least 400,000 students in public elementary and high schools in the 35 towns of Camarines Sur stand to benefit from a 30 million-peso scholarship program of the provincial government, as Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and Department of Education Secretary Armi Luistro sign today the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) pertaining to the said grant.

In his speech, Gov. Villafuerte said that this scholarship program is a serious undertaking that the provincial government will see through full implementation.

Gov. Villafuerte explained that the province shall shoulder all miscellaneous fees that used to be collected from students in public primary and secondary schools in the province.

Villafuerte added that this subsidy program is part of the general easy education access thrust of the provincial government.

The signing ceremonies took place at the Capitol Convention Center, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur at 9:00 A.M. today.

Earlier, the Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP), the province's legislative body, had authorized Villafuerte through an enabling resolution to proceed with the MOA signing.
