CAMSUR Subsidizes Public School Fees

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 14, 2011) – The provincial government shall pay the contributions that used to be collected from the students of public elementary and high schools in the province of Camarines Sur. In addition, thirty million pesos will be allocated to subsidize fees for insurance, student publication and student organization.

Yesterday, the Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP), the province's legislative body, passed a resolution,sponsored by Provincial Board Member Warren Señar of the 1st District, that allows Gov. LRay Villafuerte to enter a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education and each of the organizations that are allowed by law to collect fees from students of public schools, like the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), Red Cross, and the Anti-TB Society.

The signing of the MOAs takes place at the Capitol Convention Center in Cadlan Pili, Camarines Sur at 9 A.M. on Tuesday, May 17.

Department of Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro and Vice-President Jejomar Binay, concurrent BSP National President, are expected to attend the event.

Three thousand public school teachers and principals shall witness the MOA signing.

Meanwhile, Gov. LRay Villafuerte went to Balatan town yesterday to visit and aid the victims of Typhoon Bebeng, especially those that were affected by landslides and floods.

Relief and rehabilitation operations continue in typhoon-ravaged towns of Camarines Sur.
