  • 18 November -- Like missing teeth, the conspicuous gaps of treeless patches along the stretch of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) is what  a unique tree planting project  wants to fill in  with aesthetically pleasing trees like  Golden Shower (Cassia fistula), Palawan Cherry (Prunus javanica),  Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora)  and Caballero (Caesalpinia pulcherrima).

  • Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) reported an unaudited net income of P327.43 million for the first nine months of 2010, 11.75% higher than the P293 million as of the same period last year. Bank officials said that higher revenues from investments and interest income loans as well as trading gains were the main factors behind the increase in the first three quarters for the commercial bank owned by the World War II veterans.

  • The City Government of Lucena recently signed up with Philippine Veterans Bank for its ATM payroll services, featuring the 5-in1 Veteranteller ATM card which not only provides payroll services, but also functions as a company ID, debit card, discount card and timekeeping card providing a complete HR solution package. Under the agreement, PVB will soon service the payroll requirements of the Lucena City Government.

  • Legazpi City (25 June) -- Albay Governor Joey Salceda declared that the toll fee hike imposed by the South Luzon Tollway Corporation (SLTC) is illegal because the franchise given to them by Philippine National Construction Corporation (PNCC) has expired and has not been renewed.

    Salceda said the concession agreement between SLTC and PNCC commenced in May 2006 while the franchise given to PNCC expired in May 2007, without being renewed by Congress.
