LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 6 (PNA) - A magnitude 6 earthquake rocked Masbate, Sorsogon and Albay provinces as well as Cebu City early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs instruments recorded the earthquake at about 12:41 a.m. Saturday with its epicenter in San Pascual, Masbate.
According to Phivolcs resident volcanologist Ed Laguerta, the instruments located the earthquake at a depth of 21 kilometers.
The quake's possible source is Sibuyan Sea Fault, Phivolcs noted.
A tremor with intensity 4 in the Rossi Forel scale was felt in Masbate, Irosin, Legazpi City and Sto. Domingo in Albay while an intensity 2 quake was felt in Cebu City.
The agency said the earthquake was of tectonic origin and was triggered by deformation of the earth's crust.
