CCCom and Tercentenary Committee Launch Media Awards

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

The Caceres Commission on Communications and the Tercentenary Committee will conduct the Tercentenary Media Awards to recognize media productions that promote "social responsibility as essential in the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia."

The awards cover five major categories - radio, TV, print, website and campus journalism.  Evaluation period is from September 2009 to September 2010. The announcement of awardees is in December 2010.

Fr. Luisito Occiano, CCCom Director, says that the project aims "to emphasize that the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia calls us to be socially responsible."

Notably, the award categories do not include awards for a particular radio station, station manager, newspaper or editor.  "We want to recognize the work product based on the content of the production or the publication, and not any specific person or group of persons," Fr. Occiano adds.

Aside from the criteria for the specific award, also included in the evaluation are the "emphasis on the devotion as a way to promote common good" and "the support to the ideals of the tercentenary."

The project is expected to be presented to the local media on September 7, 2009.
