MANILA, March 27, 2010-Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales has encouraged all Filipino Catholics to support the Alay Kapwa collection this Sunday, as the Church ushers in the Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday.
In a statement, Rosales said contributions collected on Alay Kapwa Sunday are used to support the various programs of the Church. For the archdiocese, the collection proceeds go to the disaster-preparedness fund drive of Caritas Manila.
MANILA, March 11, 2010 -"The stand of the Church on contraceptives can't be compromised."
This was the statement of Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, Media Director of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to a women group insisting that the Church change its stand on condoms.
"If contraceptives are immoral, nothing can change that. If the church teaches it's immoral nothing can change that, not even the vote of the whole country can change that. The Church does not compromise its teachings," he said.
MANILA, February 25, 2010-A Special Education (SpEd) Convention attended by teachers, parents, volunteers and organizations advocating persons with disabilities was convoked Saturday.
It was convened by the Episcopal Commission on Health Care (ECHC) of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines on February 20, 2010 at the Paco Catholic School in Manila.
The organizers pointed out the urgency of teaching and forming children with special needs at an early age.

MANILA, January 7, 2010-The East Asian Pastoral Institute (EAPI) of the Ateneo de Manila University in collaboration with the Catholic Biblical Federation (CBF)-Southeast Asia has officially opened the 1st Biblical Pastoral Ministry course.
Launched January 5, the academic program is a three-month pastoral training intended for priests, religious men and women and the lay biblical workers from the different parts of the world.
