UNEP Engineering and Technical Department Partners with D.M. Consunji on Safety Training Program

Iriga City ---  To ensure that its personnel are equipped with basic yet quality training programs, the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) sought the help of  a training provider who would help in enhancing their Architecture and technical department's capability, particularly in the field of  management and supervision.

The D.M. Consunji Technical Training Center (DMCTTC) responded to the call with zest and interest.  For the past four years, DMCTTC has devoted itself in sharing its expertise, not just in the provision of training and enhancement of technical skills, but also in giving lectures on project development and implementation, system installation and local representation.

Architect Jose B. Malazarte, Dean of UNEP's College of Engineering and Architecture and Technical Department said that the Orientation on the Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training which was conducted on October 20 at the UNEP theatre  will enhance their knowhow on shielding their staff and students from possible hazards, especially inside the workplace.

"This seminar would eventually give us learning and valuable inputs on how to look after the welfare of our people without sacrificing the quality of their work. It was indeed one of the best initiatives of UNEP to come up with this idea of having this kind of activity right here at the university."

DMCTTC's reputation has been bolstered with its partnership to various public and private institutions like the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), Phil. Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Philippine Society for Mechanical Engineers (PSME) and Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors, Inc (ACEL), among others.

It has also worked with several government entities like the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, UNEP President said that their primary concern on conducting the said activity is to give due attention to the health and safety of their staff.

"Believing in the same philosophy that DMCTTC also upholds, that construction is a noble profession, and that its activities are vital to economic development, the more that we have to ensure that the labor force where they belong are also protected. It is therefore a must that their safety should be placed in our priority list."  J
