UNEP CCA Performs Song and Dances for Ina

The University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA), astounded its audience once again with its rendition of Marian dances and songs, offered solely as a tribute to Bikol's Patroness, Our Lady of Peñafrancia. The event took place at the Plaza Covarrubias last September 9 as an offering to Ina in celebration of our 300 years of faith and devotion.

The Cultural Show portrayed UNEP's unwavering passion and their continuing journey towards strengthening their faith to the Lady which we lovingly called "Ina."

Comprising the creative group are members of the world-renowned UNEP Chorale, Folkloric Group, Modern Dance Club, Circle for Consummate Artists and members of UNEP Band and Majorettes.

Aside from their participation on the Cultural Shows spearheaded and arranged by the organizers of the Tercentenary Committee, UNEPians also took the opportunity to join the early morning pilgrimage.  Devotees carrying the image of the Divino Rostro spearheaded the dawn procession.   Shortly after the 4am procession, the Offering of Ina was held and was immediately followed by Novena masses at the Basilica Minore.

Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, UNEP President said that UNEP's participation in various religious activities is part of their continuing devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. "Aside from our personal faith to Our Lady of Peñafrancia, we also wish to share the gift of devotion to a lot of their students by enjoining their participation in various tercentenary and religious endeavors."

"This devotion is a gift, and as a gift, we intend to share it, not just to our immediate families, but to the whole UNEP community as well.  We believe that in every journey, no matter how long and dusty the road might be, if we know that we are together, we will all reach our destination safely, Atty. Moraleda added.

UNEPians will also take part in other religious endeavors in line with the celebration of the 300 years of our devotion to our Lady of Peñafrancia during the entire duration of the festivity. (Lizel Macatangay)
