UNEP Gears Up for 2010 Intramurals

Looking forward to an exciting event, the University of Northeastern Philippines gears up for the celebration of the week-long 2010 Collegiate Intramurals comes August 24, 2010.  The sports competition will take place inside the vast university ground and is expected to give UNEPians the real test of agility in the arena of skills and sports.

In line with this, various university departments and committees are now preparing for their respective tasks to ensure the success and university-wide participation of the whole UNEP community in the said competition.

Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, fresh from the successful US trip after attending the 1st International Grand Alumni Homecoming in Chicago, said that the students are all keyed up for the upcoming intramurals.

"These sports events will surely provide a lot of competitive possibilities for our students.  The university believes that this is still in line with our mission of providing them with various endeavors that will both test their physical agility and mental faculties."

As its usual way of asking God's guidance, the activity will be opened through a thanksgiving mass , set on August 24 at UNEP gymansium. It will be followed by a grand parade which will commence inside the campus and will pass through the main thoroughfares of Iriga City .  The most awaited search for Mr. and Miss Intrams was also s set on the same night.

Sports events were pegged on the second day of the intramurals.    All players and students are expected to show off their skills and athletic expertise. Everyone gears up to bring home the crown in their respective sports categories.

The highlight of the competition will be the "Laro ng Lahi" which will transpire on August 26.  The campus-wide event will also feature the cheerdance competition on August 28, the last and culminating day of the Intramurals.

UNEP Executive Vice President and EVP for Finance, Miss Deli Alfelor-Tibi reminded the student-players to observe the rules of sportsmanship during the entire duration of the sport's event.

"We do this every year purposely to promote sportsmanship and develop our students' capacity to build up their self confidence and learn the art of cooperation and teamwork.  Every year is a milestone for all of us - this is a showcase of great sports players and how they have fairly won their prize as victors."
