UNEP CBED Students Celebrate Young Entrepreneurs Week

In an effort to address one of the most pressing concerns affecting the youth of today, the University of Northeastern Philippines' (UNEP) College of Business Education (CBEd) Department will spearhead the one week celebration of Young Entrepreneurs' Week at the UNEP Campus on the third week of August, 2010.

The said activity will tackle, among others, the concern on unemployment affecting fresh graduates in particular. The youth, faced with a disheartening reality of finding their place in the society after graduation, are still grappling for proper avenues that will lead to the realization and fulfilment of their dreams.

In a statement, UNEP CBEd Students raised their fears that "prolonged youth unemployment will produce far reaching consequences.  "It further states that "youth unemployment will result into too many shattered dreams, loss of identities and the lack of zeal for life in general."

In line with this sentiment, the said activity also seeks to acknowledge the youth's significant role in shaping their potentials as functional members of the society.  UNEP young entrepreneurs will be joined by other participants coming from various parts of the region.  Motivational speakers and lecturers were also invited to shed their insights on various matters concerning possible business endeavours for the youth.

Aside from providing a proper venue where the youth can express their opinions, the activity also aims to raise the student's understanding on entrepreneurship as a response to youth unemployment. It also seeks to inspire other young entrepreneurs by showcasing the success of other young achievers in the region and inspire young entrepreneurs to continue their business engagements.

Miss Deli Alfelor-Tibi, UNEP's energetic Executive Vice President and concurrently the university's VP for Finance, said that the management fully supports this upcoming endeavour.

"Our young and dynamic university president, Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, knows what the youth of today needs.  Being young herself, she knows that activities like these are great avenues that will provide our students useful insights and will guide them to the right direction."

Miss Tibi said that the CBEd Department also prepared a short but simple program to entice more attendees to join the said venture.  "Foods and drinks will be served during the entire duration of the activity.  Selected CBEd students also prepare some presentations for their intermission number. So we really expect that the event will be both entertaining and educational."

Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, UNEP President, also expressed her congratulations to the organizers for coming up with the said activity.  "This is also part of UNEP's training to nurture the capabilities of our students.  We acknowledge the fact that students need a fertile ground to prepare them before they step out of their academic comfort zone."

The UNEP management deems that the blueprint for education that they have laid down for their students will lead them in realizing their goals and will aid them in the fulfilment of their dreams.
