LEGAZPI CITY --- The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) in Bicol has approved the application for tuition fee increase of 14 higher education institutions or colleges in the region but rejected eight other similar applications for their failure to meet requirements.
Engr. Janet N. Naag, CHEd education supervisor II, identified the 14 colleges authorized to increase their tuition fees for schoolyear 2011-2012, as follows: 1) La Consolacion College, Daet Camarines Norte, 10% or P 32.07 per unit. 2) Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City, 5% or P 39.22 per unit 3) Liceo de Masbate, Masbate City, 10 % or P 25 per unit; 4) Camarines Norte College, Labo, CamNorte, 10% or P 25.06 per unit; 5) Tiwi Community College, Tiwi, Albay, 50% or P 40 per unit; 6) Partido College, Goa, Cam. Sur 12% or P 41. 22 per unit; 7) La Consolation College, Iriga City, 8% percent or P 30.01 per unit; 8) Catanduanes College, Virac, Catanduanes, 10% or P 19.20 per unit;
9) St. Louise de Marilac College, Sorsogon, Sorsogon City, 10% or P 37.01; 10) University of St. Anthony, Iriga City, 6.67% or P 42.58 per unit; 11) Our Lady of Lourdes College, Daet, CN, 18.53% or P 55.47 per unit; 12) Southern Bicol College, Masbate City, 20% or P 59.15 per unit; 13) Libon Community College, Libon, Albay, 128.57% or P 45 per unit; and 14) Masbate Colleges, Masbate City, 10% or P 58.55 per unit.

Naag said that school administrators are required to inform the CHEd fifteen days prior to consultation for tuition fee hike with the faculty association, student organizations and alumni association.
For schoolyear 2011-2012, applicants were required to submit all requirements to the CHEd Regional Office on or before April 1, 2011.
