Private sector leaders, alongside the Ateneo de Naga Institute of Politics and the Masscom Arts and Affairs  spearhead the summit that takes place at the Madrigal Hall of the Ateneo de Naga University on May 21, 2011.

I was delighted to realize that in the recent graduation ceremonies of the Ateneo de Naga University, the Valedictory Address was given by a female student, Ms. Sheanly Plofino and the Commencement Speech was delivered by another woman, Ms. Regina Paz Lopez. I think such is timely especially that March 8, 2011 marked the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Day.

Naga City (24 March 2011) -- The Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal Foundation–Bikol (CCMF-Bikol) with its thrust of “Fighting Poverty through Entrepreneurship,” commemorated the third death anniversary of its founder-benefactor, CONSUELO ALEJANDRA MADRIGAL or simply “Doña Chito” to everyone.

A two-day event of book launchings, art exhibit, poetry reading and a forum on children’s writings was held in Ateneo de Naga University on March 7-8, 2011, to give tribute to Fr. Joel Tabora’s contribution to the academic development in the Bikol region. Fr. Tabora is the outgoing president of Ateneo de Naga University.

As head of the premier university in Bikol for twelve years, Fr. Tabora has been a key player in the continuing programs and advocacies that support various educational as well as environmental issues in the region and in the country-at-large.

The first anthology of the Balaog Children's Book Series will be launched on March 8, 2011, at 430 PM, Arrupe Convention Center, Ateneo de Naga University. The book contains three stories for children written by H. Francisco V. Penones Jr., Christine Bellen and Kristian S. Cordero. Illustrations by Jeremeel Lu. Book Design by Vic Nierva, Imbitado an gabos.

For the second consecutive year, a student from the Ateneo de Naga University ranked first in the Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) 2010. Monica M. Palomares, AB Development Communications senior student, bested 16 other national winners and finalists in the Search.

For the second consecutive year, a student from the Ateneo de Naga University ranked first in the Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) 2010. Monica M. Palomares, AB Development Communications senior student, bested 16 other national winners and finalists in the Search.

Palomares is the sixth JRMSP winner ADNU has produced in history. In 2009, Chanelle Allorde, Valedictorian of Class 2010, also topped in the same Search.

For embodying the idealism of a youth patriot, student rights’ advocate and journalist, the CSC Statesman’s First Semester, SY 2010-2011 issue bagged the First Cris Hugo Excellence Award in Campus Journalism.

Another regional citation was earned by the official tertiary student publication of the Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) at the close of 2010.

In Ateneo de Naga University, the student photographers of the Department of Media Studies have photographed the Bikol River, or at least its vanishing, dying tributary called the Naga River. In the process, they are discovering what the great photographer of monumental landscapes, Ansel Adams, thinks of photograph as "that instrument of love and revelation."

(The exhibit from students of Department of Media Studies was caught between the Tercentenary celebration of the devotion to our Lady of Peñafrancia and the semester break that followed it. This article pays tribute to the young artists and saw publication on the Art Page of Business Mirror where the author is the resident Art And Media Critic.)
