GMA Network scored another victory as it bagged the Most Outstanding Television Station of the Year honor from the 34th Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards.

No less than GMA Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon received the citation during ceremonies held on Thursday (May 22) in Makati City.

Msgr. Tantoco, ex-Caritas Manila director, dies at 75

MANILA, May 23, 2014— Monsignor Francisco Tantoco, Jr., former Caritas Manila executive director, died on Friday after around a decade bout with Parkinson’s disease. He was 75.

Tantoco was rushed to San Juan De Dios Hospital inPasay City at 9pm yesterday after his condition exacerbated. He passed away at 6:45am today.

The management of GMA has read the recent reports alleging that Mr. Mike Enriquez, senior anchor and host, appears in a so-called list of media personalities who have received gifts from JLN Inc., particularly through Mr. BenHur Luy.

Mr. Enriquez had denied receiving any gift of any sort from JLN Inc. or from any person related to JLN Inc. Likewise the person named to have brought the money to Mr. Enriquez has executed an affidavit denying his participation in the said act.

GMA News and Public Affairs' “The Obama Visit” is the most watched coverage of the first state visit of US President Barack Obama to the Philippines on April 28 and 29 (based on overnight data) in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement), Urban Luzon, and Mega Manila, according to the industry's leading ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

In NUTAM, the two-day coverage posted a household rating average of 13.1 percent, with 2.2 points ahead of the 10.9 percent recorded by ABS’ Special News Coverage.

Bishop joins calls for De Lima to release pork-scam list

MANILA, May 7, 2014 — A Catholic bishop has joined the growing calls for Justice Secretary Leila De Lima to release the list of lawmakers allegedly involved in the P10-billion pork barrel scam.

Batanes Bishop Camilo Gregorio said that the DOJ chief should divulge the contents of Janet Lim Napoles’ affidavit for the sake of transparency and accountability.
