NAGA City, August 29, 2014 – Ateneo de Naga University High School emerged as the top contender during the regional finals of the 5th St. Paul National Bible Quiz on August 10, 2014. Ateneo de Naga University High School is set to compete against other regional Bible champions September 20, 2014 at SMX Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

CACERES, August 29, 2014 – Caceres Commission on Communications (CCCom) Director Fr. Luisito Occiano announced on August 21 the finalists of the 2nd Peñafrancia Short Film Festival. The finalists are “Atang” by Paolo Piana; “Harayo, Harani Man” by Arjanmar Rebeta; “Inay” by the Independent Artists; “Kapit” by Antonio Ayen; and “Nawawara” by Jordan de la Cruz. Inspired by the theme “Choose to be brave, to live and love like Ina”, five films bring to the big screen two things: the celebration of the Year of the Laity and the call to be like Mary.

NIA Bicol has new director

NAGA CITY (Sept 1, 2014) -- The Bicol regional office of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) starting this September has a new regional manager (RM) in the person of Director Vicente R. Vicmudo who replaced Director William P. Ragodon by virtue of NIA Board Resolution No. 8084 series of 2014 issued August 9 this year.

Kapuso prime leading man Alden Richards is all set to scour Naga, CDO and Davao to help search and highlight homegrown talents via GMA Network’s upcoming reality talent search Bet ng Bayan (BNB) beginning today.

Bet ng Bayan is holding two-day auditions each in SM City Naga (August 8 & 9), SM City CDO (August 9 and 10), and SM City Davao (August 9 & 10) with Alden making an appearance per area. First on his list is Naga on August 8, followed by CDO on August 9, and finally Davao on August 10.

Archbishop Legazpi dies at 78

Former Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi, one of the Dominican prelates, passed away this morning, the Feast of St. Dominic, after a long battle with cancer.

“Nanding” as referred to by his classmate Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Emeritus Oscar V. Cruz, died at the UST Hospital at 5:00 A.M. today at the age of 78.

Pope sets PH trip Jan. 15-19

MANILA, July 29, 2014–There is just no stopping Pope Francis from visiting the Philippines early next year and the papal nuncio has one wish—that it will be a ‘spiritual typhoon’.

In a press conference Tuesday, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle announced that the pope will make a four-day visit to the country from January 15 to 19, 2015.

While the schedules of the papal visit will be released later this year, Tagle hinted the pope’s desire to visit areas ravaged by typhoon Yolanda last year.
