MANILA,Philippines - The alleged mastermind in the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam for which some influential politicians might spend the rest of their life behind bars wants to turn state witness and has pinned down three senators linked to the anomaly, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima revealed yesterday.

In a press briefing, De Lima said she met with Janet Lim-Napoles Monday night at the Ospital ng Makati and took a “tell-all” sworn statement from the detained businesswoman.

Thousands of Bicolanos gave a warm welcome for Eat Bulaga dabarkads Allan K., Ruby Rodriguez, and Keempee de Leon during the Kapuso Night that coincided with the province’s annual Magayon Festival last April 6 at the Albay Astrodome, Legazpi City.

Their presence made over 5,000 supporters, from the young ones to the old ones, doubly ecstatic when they each delivered their signature antics and flexed their funny bones that had the audience up on their feet and enthusiastically participating throughout the event.

'Doctors to barrios' program up for review

MANILA, Philippines - Health Secretary Enrique Ona has ordered a review of the Department of Health’s Doctors to the Barrios Program (DTBP), saying that it has been abused by local government leaders. Ona said the DTBP should have only been a “stop-gap measure” to address the lack of doctors in some towns. But after 20 years, most of the local government units (LGUs) that have been getting doctors through the program are still not hiring their own physicians.

I encourage our Catholic faithful to maintain respect and esteem for the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has decided on the RH issue based on existing laws in the Philippines.

The Church must continue to uphold the sacredness of human life, to teach always the dignity of the human person and to safeguard the life of every human person from conception to natural death.

SC upholds constitutionality of RH Law

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Voting unanimously, the Supreme Court upheld yesterday Republic Act No. 10354 or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act, but struck down certain provisions.

In summer session here, justices of the high court voted to declare unconstitutional eight provisions in the controversial law and in its implementing rules and regulations (IRR).
