After a successful three-year run in GMA News TV, where it featured the houses and lives of inspiring Filipinos, a new door opens for Powerhouse on GMA7.

Launched on March 1, 2011, Powerhouse has already featured the abodes and stories of more than a hundred personalities including the country's most powerful politicians, brightest showbiz stars, multi-awarded athletes, and wealthy entrepreneurs.

GMA International hosted the Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation (PCCF) in its recent visit to the Philippines this January. GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon welcomed the representatives along with Filipino-Canadian Senator Tobias Enverga, Jr. and his wife, Rosemer Enverga during a courtesy call at GMA Network Center last January 16.

Iriga’s “Tinagba festival 2014” ushered in by 4-day medical mission

IRIGA CITY – The yearly harvest festival in this city celebrated traditionally with a parade of harvest laden bull carts and street “mardigras” starts this year with a humanitarian and medical mission.

An 80-member contingent, composed of Fil-American physicians headed by Dr. Rosemarie Aquiler, all belonging to the Philippine Medical Association of Michigan (PMAM), accompanied by volunteer nurses, came over bringing their own medical supplies and equipment and conducted medical as well as surgical procedures on indigent patients.

Bishop condemns use of child soldiers by rebel group

MANILA, Feb. 3, 2014— A Catholic bishop has expressed deep concern over the alleged recruitment of child soldiers by a breakaway Moro rebel group in Southern Philippines.

In a radio interview Monday, Basilan Bishop Martin Jumoad condemned the reported use of “minors” by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in engaging the military in Maguindanao.

The church leader said that the practice of recruiting children into the armed forces is against human rights law and is unacceptable.

GMA Network was awarded as the Highly Commendable TV Station; while GMA VP for News Programs Jessica Soho was named as Best News Anchor for GMA News TV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho and as Best Magazine Program Host for Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, which also won as Best Magazine Program.
