DARAGA, Albay, April 18 - Church devotees from all walks of life who will hold their traditional “Visita Iglesia” (church visitation) this Holy Week will be awed by the newly spruced up façade and belfry of the centuries-old Nuestra Senora de la Porteria (Our Lady of the Gates) in Daraga town in Albay.

Visita Iglesia is a religious tradition during the Holy Week where devotees visit at least 12 churches in their locality to attend mass, pray, confess and walk the way of the cross.

As secretary, he can no longer order LGUs around especially the barangay.

When Security Policies are based on Lies

The "war on terror" policy pursued by the past Macapagal-Arroyo administration should be declared as good as dead and should be abandoned by the incumbent President. That policy was based hook, line, and sinker on former U.S. President George W. Bush, Jr.'s neo-conservative theory linking Iraq to the 9/11 bombings. Now, an Iraqi defector who was the primary source of so-called intelligence reports that were used to make a case for Bush's Operation Iraqi Freedom has confessed that he made the whole story up.

One NPA Rebel Killed, One Soldier Hurt as Fresh Fighting Erupts in Masbate

MILAGROS, Masbate Nov 5. 2010- An NPA rebel lay dead and one military officer was wounded in a fresh fighting in Masbate island, a military official said here today.

LtCol Anthony Purugganan, the Commander of the 9^th Infantry Battalion which has jurisdiction over the whole Masbate Province, said that he sent a platoon of soldiers led by 1^st Lieutenant Michael Morales supported by 10-man police contingent led by Police Inspector Jan King Calipay after receiving a 'hot' information regarding the presence of 20 heavily-armed bandits in Sitio Hanlas, Pina village in the town of San Jacinto.
