Pili Mayor Tomas P. Bongalonta Jr. said that the Department of Education (DEP-ED) statistics bared that at least 34% of elementary school children nationwide have head lice, but locally as many as 59% have hair parasites and about 70% have dental problems.

The concept of a warm planet may be a difficult thing to grasp for both young and adult learners. But local officials in the province assured that they have simplified the ideas with the help of teachers and scientists. They have then developed and included these ideas in the regular curricula of students in both elementary and high schools.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro said his agency had made all the necessary preparations through Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) and Brigada Eskwela or National Schools Maintenance Week.

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 17, 2011) – At least 400,000 students in public elementary and high schools in the 35 towns of Camarines Sur stand to benefit from a 30 million-peso scholarship program of the provincial government, as Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and Department of Education Secretary Armi Luistro sign today the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) pertaining to the said grant.

In his speech, Gov. Villafuerte said that this scholarship program is a serious undertaking that the provincial government will see through full implementation.

In addition, thirty million pesos will be allocated to subsidize fees for insurance, student publication and student organization.

Pili, Camarines Sur, (PIA) ---   In strengthening their resolve to lessen if not eradicate casualties and damage to properties caused by natural disasters, the local government of Camarines Sur, thru Governor LRay Villafuerte recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Red Cross- (PRC) Camarines Sur Chapter to formalize another convergence of forces, this time in equipping the community with disaster preparedness.

Preparations are underway for the 7th Juliana Arejola-Fajardo Workshop sa Pagsurat-Bikol, Bicol’s only annual creative writing workshop. Traditionally held in the summer months, the write-shop is finally scheduled on November 27 and 28 at the Our Lady’s Hall of the St. Louise de Marillac School (SLMS) in Pili, Camarines Sur.
