Evacuees, students share use of classrooms in CAMSUR

PILI, Camarines Sur (Aug 7, 2007) – Two weeks into the aftermath of Typhoon Juaning, hundreds of evacuees have no choice but to sleep in classrooms that students use in day time. This cumbersome arrangement ensued after classes were ordered resumed even in the still flooded areas in the 2nd and 5th districts of Camarines Sur.

Department of Education (DepEd) Camarines Sur Schools Division Superintendent Emma I. Cornejo said that regular classes have resumed even in flooded areas of the province since August 3.

Lice infestations, dental problems afflict most public school children

Pili Camarines Sur (June 20, 2011) — Every other public school pupil in this capital town has head lice infestation and 7 in every 10 have dental problems - much higher than the national figures.

Pili Mayor Tomas P. Bongalonta Jr. said that the Department of Education (DEP-ED) statistics bared that at least 34% of elementary school children nationwide have head lice, but locally as many as 59% have hair parasites and about 70% have dental problems.

But local officials in the province assured that they have simplified the ideas with the help of teachers and scientists. They have then developed and included these ideas in the regular curricula of students in both elementary and high schools.

MANILA, Philippines (June 6 2011) - The Department of Education (DepEd) said it is ready for the opening of school year 2011-2012 today, with an expected 25.7 million students trooping to public and private pre-school, elementary and high schools nationwide.

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 17, 2011) – At least 400,000 students in public elementary and high schools in the 35 towns of Camarines Sur stand to benefit from a 30 million-peso scholarship program of the provincial government, as Governor L-Ray Villafuerte and Department of Education Secretary Armi Luistro sign today the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) pertaining to the said grant.

CAMSUR Subsidizes Public School Fees

Pili, Camarines Sur (May 14, 2011) – The provincial government shall pay the contributions that used to be collected from the students of public elementary and high schools in the province of Camarines Sur. In addition, thirty million pesos will be allocated to subsidize fees for insurance, student publication and student organization.

Camarines Sur, DeEd and PRC ink MOA on Disaster Preparedness

Pili, Camarines Sur, (PIA) ---   In strengthening their resolve to lessen if not eradicate casualties and damage to properties caused by natural disasters, the local government of Camarines Sur, thru Governor LRay Villafuerte recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Red Cross- (PRC) Camarines Sur Chapter to formalize another convergence of forces, this time in equipping the community with disaster preparedness.

7th Pagsurat Bikol to Honor Vincentian Schools' Founders

Preparations are underway for the 7th Juliana Arejola-Fajardo Workshop sa Pagsurat-Bikol, Bicol’s only annual creative writing workshop. Traditionally held in the summer months, the write-shop is finally scheduled on November 27 and 28 at the Our Lady’s Hall of the St. Louise de Marillac School (SLMS) in Pili, Camarines Sur.
