Two of 3 Ako Bicol partylist representatives – Rodel Batocabe and Alfredo Garbin Jr. - also signed in, favoring the ousting of the Chief Justice.

NAGA CITY (Sep 25, 2011) - Typhoon Pedring (International name: NESAT) was spotted 9:00 A.M. today north east of the Bicol region is moving fast at 28 kilometers per hour (kph) west-northwesterly towards the Aurora province.

Pedring is now 235 kilometers Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with maintained centerwind of 150 kph with gusts up to 185.

It is expected to become a Category 4 Typhoon early Tuesday morning as it approaches the coast of Aurora wiith a centerwind up to 250 kph.

LEGAZPI CITY (Aug 31, 2011) - Local organizers of a nationwide transport strike slated today predict 95 percent of the Bicol region shall be paralyzed by their protest action.

Public utility vehicles are expected to stop plying the streets of Bikol for 24 hours starting midnight last night up to midnight tonight.

NAGA CITY Philippines  (Aug 1, 2011, 4:00 A.M.) - Luzon is now in between two weather systems - a weakening Super Typhoon Kabayan far in the East and a consolidating weak Tropical Depression (Low Pressure Area or LPA) in the West.

Kabayan (International name: Muifa) has lost its Super Typhoon status but remains a powerful Category 4 Typhoon that is moving slowly North-Northeastward across the North Philippine Sea. Its far distance, however, attenuates its effects in population areas of the country.

NAGA CITY Philippines (July 29, 2011 8:00 P.M.) - Tropical Storm 'Kabayan' (International name: Muifa) is not expected to hit land anywhere in the country as it moves Northerly towards the Northern Philippine Sea at 13 kilometers per hour (kph).

At 6:00 P.M. today, the eye of the tropical storm was located 1060 kilometers  East of Virac, Catanduanes at coordinates 13.9º North Latitude 134.0º East Longitude with sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gusts up to 120 kph.

NAGA City Philippines (July 26, 2011 3:30 A.M.) - More provinces have been put under Storm Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Juaning passes close to Catanduanes, maintaining its Northwest course at 20 kilometers per hour towards Cagayan-Isabela area.

The following provinces are now under Storm Signal No.: Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora,Quezon, Polillo Island, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte.

NAGA City (July 25, 2011 6:00 PM)  - Tropical Depression Juaning continues to accelerate, now moving northwestward - just to the east of Catanduanes. Its rainbands are spreading across the Bicol Region and Samar Provinces including Southern Quezon.

As of 6:00 PM today, the tropical depression was located 180 kilometers East Norheast of Virac, Cartanduanes at coordinates 14.0º North Latitude 125.8º East Longitude packing ceterwind of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 75 kilometers per hour, moving at 17 kilometers per hour towards Isabela-Cagayan area.

VIRAC, Catanduanes (July 20, 2011) - Dr. Minerva I. Morales, the new president of the Catanduanes State Colleges, formally started her term of office on July 18, 2011 during a simple but historic turnover ceremony at the CSC Main Building Front Grounds after the Monday Flag Ceremony attended by CSC employees and students.

Outgoing Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) President Asuncion V. Asetre handed over to Dr. Morales the symbolic CSC Mace and vital institutional documents.

VIRAC, Catanduanes, July 13, (PIA) -- A total of 4,654 families will be added to the 5,126 families already under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) in the Conditional Cash Transfer program starting next year.

The families were from the seven municipalities who were not included in the said program since late 2010.

LEGAZPI City (July 1, 2011) – Rescue teams of the Philippine Navy, using 2 sea vessels and an aircraft, have ended the search for 10 missing fishermen from Ligao City and the towns of Virac and Bato in Catanduanes province.

An official report on Thursday, (June 30) from the Office of the Civil Defence (OCD) Bicol office and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) bared that the 10 fishermen lost at sea and will not be searched anymore were identified as:

Rosa Ordan, 54, barangay Basag, of Ligao City;

Naga City Philippines (June 23, 2011 8:00 A.M.) - A large Tropical Storm, Falcon covers a wide area 740 kilometer in diameter. So while Luzon provinces are considered to be out of harms's way of a direct hit, the storm can come with heavy rains that cause damaging floods in low lying areas.

It's outer rainbands affect the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas where moderate to strong winds (30-61 kph) are expected. Total 24-hour rainfall accumulation can reach as high as 380 mm along Falcon's western circulation near Catanduanes.
