Typhoon Pedring (NESAT) closes in on Aurora-Isabela-Quirino

NAGA CITY (Sep 25, 2011 7:00 P.M.) - As of 6:00 PM today, Typhoon Pedring (NESAT) dangerously moves towards Aurora, Isabela and Quirino Provinces.

Projected Landfall Area (PLA) is Northern Aurora with possible entry point or touchdown just north of Casiguran between 4-5 AM local time Tomorrow (Tuesday).

Now moving at 22 kilometers per (kph), NESAT (PEDRING) is expected to maintain a general West-Northwesterly track troughout the forecast period with some decrease on its forward speed.

The center of the typhoon is center is located 190 kilometers (km) North of Pandan, Catanduanes or 246 km north of Virac. Its center wind is estimated at 150 kph with gustiness up to 185.

On the forecast track, the center of the typhoon will pass 250 km to the north of Bicol Region tonight and make landfall in Northern Aurora, just north of Casiguran early Tuesday morning.

NESAT will then cross the southern part of Northern Luzon, traversing Northern Quirino-Southern Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet-Ifugao,

It shall exit mainland Luzon through La Union Tuesday afternoon.

By Wednesday through Thursday, NESAT will be over the West Philippine Sea, leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as it moves towards Hainan Island, Southern China.

Placed under PAGASA Typhoon signal no. 3 are Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Northern Quezon, Polillo Island, Aurora, Quirino and Isabela,.

Typhoon signal no. 2 has been raised over Metro Manila, Albay, Burias Island, the rest of Quezon province, Rizal, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, Mountain Province, Kalinga and Cagayan.

Because of Pedring's wide 905 km diameter, Typhoon signal no. 1 is in effect over Masbate, Ticao Island, Northern Samar, Marinduque, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Pampanga, Bataan, Pampanga, Zambales, Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Apayao, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands.
