Tropical storm Santi (International name: NARI) is expected to pass north of the Bicol region as it threatens Central and Northern Luzon. Its outermost and southwestern rainbands are now spreading across Catanduanes and the Partido District of Camarines Sur. At 5:00 am today, the center of Santi was located over the Central Philippine Sea at about 430 km east-northeast of Pandan, Catanduanes or 655 km east-southeast of Casiguran, Aurora. It is currently moving northwest with an increased forward speed of 15 km/hr towards Central & Northern Luzon...

NAGA CITY Aug 11, 2013 11 AM - Typhoon Labuyo (International name: Utor) is projected to be closest to Naga City this afternoon between 4PM and 6PM when it's center shall be 200 km northeast of the city. At this distance Labuyo is not expected to cause damage as the destructive winds of 95 kph or more shall be confined to about 100 radius from the center. Its outer rainbands, however, shall cause widespread slight to moderate, occasionally heavy, rains throughout the day with winds of only 10 to 40 kph.

As of 5:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon Utor (Labuyo) was located over the the Philippine Sea, about 250 km east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 280 km east-northeast of Caramoan, Camarines Sur and it is currently moving west-northwest with an increased forward speed of 28 km/hr in the general direction of Aurora-Quirino Area...

Typhoon Labuyo (International name: Utor) now packs a centerwind of 140 km per hour with gustiness up to 165 and continues to intensify as it moves westward in at 26 km per hour in the general direction of Aurora-Quirino area. At 5:00 P.M. today, it's center is located 455 km East-Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

Eleven areas in Luzon have been placed under Typhoon signal no. 1: Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Quezon, Polilio Island, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino and Catanduanes...

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Surigao City has developed into a 300 km diameter Tropical Depression named "Bising," and PAGASA(Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) raised storm signal no. over Samar Island and the Bicol region with the exception of the province of Masbate.

At 4:00 AM today, 12 January 2013, the center of "Bising" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 170 km Northeast of Borongan,Eastern Samar(12.0°N, 127.0°E) and is expected to move North-Northwesterly at 13 km. per hour. Center wind is estimated at 45 km. per hour.

By Sunday morning, the Tropical Depression shall be at 110 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and at 360 km East of Aparri, Cagayan by Monday morning.

Even as counting of votes continues in Florida, Nevada, Virginia and Colorado, CNN has projected that President Barack Obama is re-elected after results from Ohio indicate that the president also carried the state.

The unofficial result was all that the Obama supporters needed to erupt into celebration, a little more subdued this compared to 2008 when Obama became the first African American to become president of the United States.

NAGA CITY (Oct 27, 2012) - Mayor Raul Matamorosa of Lupi, Camarines Sur is now fighting for his life at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Naga City after being shot in the head by still unidentified gunman.

At past 3 PM today Mayor Matamorosa had his television set fixed at the Sony Service Center at diversion road, Naga City, and was already inside his car when approached by a male assailant who shot him at close range at the back of his head closer to the left parietal area.

Niles Jordan Breis of Tabaco City was named Parasurat kan Taon (Writer of the Year) at the awards rites of the 2012 Premio Tomas Arejola sa Literaturang Bikolnon. Dubbed as Pagrokyaw sa Pinakamaray-rahay na Panurat kan Taon (A Toast for the Best Literary Works of the Year), the much-awaited gathering of Bicolano writers was held at the historic Holy Rosary Minor Seminary in Naga City Sept 29, this year.

Naga City (Aug 21, 2012) - Department of Communication and Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas confirms this morning that the lifeless body of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo was recovered at around 8:00 A.M. today from the wreckage of his plane that crashed off the shore of Masbate City last Thursday ( Aug 16, 2012).

The wreckage of the ill-fated plane was positioned upside down when sighted by volunteer drivers 800 meters from the shore. The bodies of Sec. Robredo and the two pilots were seen trapped inside the plane.

Sec. Robredo's body was the easiest to retrieve and was pulled up to the surface, placed in a body bag and loaded into a Coast Guard ship.

GIZO: 31 July 2012 -- Bishop Luciano Capelli SDB, Bishop of Gizo, Solomon Islands, had the sad task today of writing to family, authorities, and those who had been working closely with Ryan Turallo, Filipino volunteer missionary, to inform them that at 7.00 am this morning, Ryan's body was washed ashore at Aleang village in the Shortland group.

Ryan, 30 years of age, a native of Iriga City, Philippines, was the Student Affairs Coordinator at St John Bosco Senior Technical School on Nila, in the Shortland Islands. The school, named for St John Bosco, also has a number of alumni from Don Bosco Henderson on staff.
