Probe on Seminary Rector's Death Ongoing

Naga City (29 July) -- Even as the Archdiocese of Caceres mourns the passing away of one of its good and dedicated priests, REV. FR. BALTAZAR A. ACOMPAÑADO, JR., circumstances regarding his recent death remain under investigation.

Fr. Nono, as he was fondly called, was the Rector of the Holy Rosary Preparatory Seminary at San José, Camarines Sur and the Archdiocesan Vocation Director. According to the official statement of the Archdiocese, he was found dead in his room at the Preparatory Seminary at 9:30 AM of July 28, 2010; he was 35 years old.

In his years as a priest, Fr. Nono had served the local church communities through several ecclesiastical and pastoral assignments, among them as Parochial Vicar at the Naga Cathedral, as Assistant Coordinator of SPARC, as Assistant Director of the Archdiocesan Office of Social Action, and as professor-formator at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary.

His remains lay in state at the Good Shepherd Chapel of the Holy Rosary Major Seminary, Naga City.  A concelebrated funeral mass was offered on Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the same chapel at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon. Interment will follow after the mass at the Resurrection Garden, the burial ground for priests. (F. J. Lagdameo)
