UNEP Chorale Rocks with GMA-7's Party Pilipinas
The University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) Chorale have once again proven its versatility by belting out their own rendition of Queen's "We will Rock You" in one of its rare performances with GMA-7's entertainers.
The big event held last Sunday, May 16 at the Camarines Sur Water Sport's Complex was hosted by Party Pilipinas' mainstays, Janno Gibbs and Jaya. UNEP Chorale's performance with Kyla had also drawn a heartening applause from the audience.
UNEP Executive Vice President and VP for Finance, Miss Deli Alfelor-Tibi, also the chorale's manager upon hearing the chorale's performance has nothing but uplifting words to say. "It is indeed a great privilege being invited by one of the giant networks here in our country to perform along with their talents, and even do the presentation as the finale of the show."
Ms. Tibi also raised her hat to the chorale's choirmaster, Mr. Caryl B. Yu for allowing themselves to try new repertoires that would enhance their skills as real performers. "I would like to congratulate the chorale for the job well done and to their mentor, Mr. Yu for always keeping up that level of professionalism. They always give their best in every performance, anywhere they go."
"It's a great feeling that local talents are being appreciated and being tossed up along with the national artists. We are just too happy to represent our fellow Bicolanos in our every performance," Mr. Yu said in an interview.
The UNEP Chorale was formed in May 2004 and was Ms. Tibi's brainchild. After various successful feats in Bicol Region, the chorale eventually spread its wings and had been extending their performance not just in the Philippines but has also captured the international scene.
Barely two years after winning the highest Silver Diploma Award in the 4th World Choir Games held in Xiamen, China in 2006, the University of Northeastern Philippines Chorale bagged another victorious feat in the 2008 HONGKONG INTERNATIONAL YOUTH AND CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL competition held at the former Crown Colony's Cultural Center in Hongkong in July.
Early this year, the chorale was also cited by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as one of the recipients of Ani ng Sining Awards in line with the celebration of this year's Philippine International Arts Festival (PIAF).The chorale was also unanimously cited as Sumagang Awardee for its outstanding achievement in music and culture during Iriga City 's 41st Charter Anniversary Celebration last year.
The remarkable imprint of this talent made UNEP Chorale soar in terms of singing competence. It will shine even brighter and will not cease in making us proud of this great heritage.
