UNEP Matriarch Celebrates 95th Birthday

For an exemplary woman who continues to live her life as a living inspiration, not just for her family and loved ones but for everyone in the community, another year is just another blessing to truly celebrate.

Dr. Remedios Rigoroso-Alfelor, the loving wife of the late Camarines Sur Governor Felix O. Alfelor Sr., "Wawa" to her family and close friends welcomes her 95^th year as she continues to colorfully mark the legacy that she unselfishly shared, especially to the people of Rinconada area.

As a way of thanking her for all the inspiration, her family prepared a fitting tribute for her.  A simple yet significant program was held at the Iriga Plaza Convention Center , Iriga City on the morning of December 30- a red-colored day not just for Wawa for her loved ones as well.

One of the main highlights was the presentation of one of the most sought after Bicolano band and comedians, the 4k Barrel who filled the air with awe and laughter with their gags and renditions of Bicolano songs. The CCA also performed a highly-spirited production number while the world-renowned UNEP Chorale belted out their award-winning masterpiece. Their presentation became even more applauded when Ms.Del Alfelor-Tibi, UNEP energetic VP for Finance and one of Wawa's dear daughters, joined them for a song number which she especially dedicated to Wawa.

A video presentation of her three (3) significant legacies was also showcased during the momentous occasion.  It includes Wawa's legacy in the fields of education, her spirituality and her active involvement in social services.  The presentation serves as a prelude for the book launching of the coffee table entitled "ONRA" comes February 2010, in time for the founding anniversary of the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP).  ONRA is a tribute to Wawa who has given so much honor and inspiration to so many lives that she has touched.

Dr. Remedios Rigoroso-Alfelor, truly an accomplished individual, a thread that binds so many generation and a moving force that catapulted many to great power.  She will continue to stay as a living inspiration to many.  Her priceless achievement, her family, including her eight (8) successful children who are now achievers in their own chosen fields of endeavors, will continue to enthuse many to serve and be just like her- self-less and passionate in helping others.

Wawa is a certified educator, made evident by the countless students and employees she has honed.  She has shaped a community of educators, the University of Northeastern Philippines - which after 60 years of its dominance, has produced successful businessmen, entrepreneurs, professionals, public servants, educators, and private individuals who have silently emulated her virtue of excellence and shared them to many
