UNEP Chorale Celebrates 5TH Anniversary

Since its inception in May 2004, the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) Chorale has continuously widened its turf and is now one of the most reputable names in the music industry. As its way of paying tribute to its members, the chorale, together with its original members will celebrate its 5^th year Anniversary thru a concert comes December 20, 2009, 2pm at the UNEP Theater.

UNEP President Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, who will deliver the opening remarks during the concert, is in high spirits in anticipation of the chorale's performance together with its alumna.  She guarantees the would-be spectators, particularly choirs from other universities and school all over the region, that this is one performance that they should not miss.

"There will be variety of repertoire to watch out for, ranging from religious songs, contemporary music, folksong, pop music and of course Christmas songs. The choir's alumna will also be there so it's really an event that we are all looking forward to."

The UNEP Chorale was formed thru the efforts of Miss Del Alfelor-Tibi, UNEP's Vice President for Finance.  Her love for music and her strong desire to convey her dreams of seeing Bicolanos shine and be known as world class performers has driven the chorale to the heights of its career.

In 2006, the chorale gave one of its biggest achievements to the university when it won the highest Silver Diploma Award in the 4^th World Choir Games in Xiamen, China. The chorale bagged another victorious feat in 2008 during the Hongkong International Youth and Children's Festival held at the former's Crown Colony's Cultural Center.

Just recently, the UNEP Chorale was cited as Sumagang Awardee during the 41^st Charter Anniversary Celebration of Iriga City on September 3, 2009.   The award was given to UNEP Chorale for its outstanding achievement in music and culture.

On May 2009, the chorale was conferred with the prestigious "Ani ng Sining" awards by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) during the Philippine International Arts Festival 2009 held at the Manila Hotel.  The award recognized the chorale's exemplary feats during international competitions.

UNEP Choirmaster Mr. Caryl B. Yu stated that the team's motivation also springs from the untiring support and enormous dedication that the UNEP Management is giving.
