Noynoy, Liberal Senatoriables Woo Bikol

NAGA CITY (26 October) -Liberal Party (LP) presidentiable Sen. Noynoy Aquino recently made consultations with multi-sectoral groups and old Liberal party members in Naga City, Calabanga, San Fernando towns in Camarines Sur and Albay province during the weekend.

During the audience with some 300 Liberal party supporters in Calabanga town, Partido LIBERAL Deputy Director General for Organization and Operation Henry A. Bacurnay told VOX BIKOL, that the early Liberal Party sorties in Bikol were practically to introduce "Noynoy" to the grass-roots and to dialogue with multi-sectoral groups on pressing issues confronting rural folks in Bikol.

Bacurnay said Sen. Aquino is pursuing a "People's Campaign" in next year's Presidential election and has made similar consultations with sectors in the Visayas and Mindanao in recent weeks.

He also noted that the Liberal Party is currently on its consolidation stage nationwide and will conduct a general assembly of the party in Manila scheduled on Oct. 26 and a national convention on Nov. 19.

Liberal Party's regional chairman, Naga Mayor Jesse Robredo, was with Sen. Noynoy's group composed of Liberal party senatoriables: former Bukidnon Rep. Neric Acosta, Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon; AKBAYAN- Rep. Risa Hontiveros, and Bukidnon Rep. TG Guingona during Saturday and Sunday sorties in Bikol.

Meanwhile, among Noynoy's party is former Integrated Bar of the Philippines president Joel Cadiz, a native of Naga City who is eyeing the congressional post for the 2nd district of Camarines Sur. Cadiz who is running under the Liberal party faces incumbent Cam. Sur 2nd district Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte. (SONNY SALES)
