Naga Couple Hurt in Robbery Hold Up

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

NAGA CITY - TWO LOCAL RESIDENTS, a couple engaged in trading were divested of cash amounting to P 300,000 pesos during a lightning robbery-hold up at M. Castro St., near the Tinago National High School at 3:15 P.M. last October 7.

Initial Investigation by the Naga City Police District Office revealed that couple, Enrique Serrano Sanchez, 44 and wife Rosemary Prado Sanchez, 44, both residents of Dons St., Barangay Dayangdang in this city, were reportedly followed by suspects riding a Black XRM Honda motorcycle, after withdrawing the huge amount of cash at the local branches of banks UCPB and Land Bank.

One among the three suspects fired a 9-MM pistol on the automobile the victims were riding, wounding the couple; the suspects thereafter forcibly took the big amount of cash from them.

Witnesses said the suspects immediately fled towards the direction of Mayon Ave., while the victims were brought by local residents to St. John Hospital for treatment.

Naga Police district chief, Supt. Tomasito Clet, revealed that the suspects belong to an organized crime group who has a local "spotter" pin-pointing the would-be victims.

Clet claimed the group has a similar "robbery-hold-up style" linked to previous robbery cases. It was believed that same group were involved in the foiled robbery-holdup of a businessman from Libon, Albay early in this year, where the wounded victim killed one of the hold-up men during a shoot-out with the armed robbers in Bato, Cam. Sur.

At Camp Simeon Ola, Legazpi City, the PNP RECOM-5 also reported that a certain Erlindo Gomez of Butuan, Masbate province was gunned down by suspects armed with M-16 rifles, at about 12:00 noon on Wednesday.

Gomez, who was reportedly a businessman, was earlier abducted by individuals belonging to a 30-man armed group according to witnesses. (SONNY SALES)
