UNEP Tops Bikol's High School Achievement Test

LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Education (DepEd) Bicol regional office based here announced in its Regional Bulletin No. 2 that the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) High School Department topped the 2009 Regional Secondary Achievement Test held Feb. 9 in all private and public schools in the six provinces of the region.

According to the DepEd bulletin, high school examinees from UNEP garnered the overall highest score in various subject areas particularly in Mathematics, Science, English,MAPEH, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, TLE, and English Proficiency subjects.

The annual high school achievement test is given by DepEd to students of public and private schools to assess their academic performance. The test also measures the aptitude of the students and their knowledge of the different subject they are studying.

UNEP president, lawyer Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, was overjoyed by the result of the regional test. "It only shows that UNEP's quality of education is one of the best in Bikol," she said.

Moraleda commended Maria P. Dela Vega, the university high school principal and the members of the faculty for a job well done.

"I'm very proud of your dedication and commitment to UNEP's vision of making our school a globally competitive one and truly the home of Bikolano achievers," Moraleda told Dela Vega and the faculty members when she was informed of the good news about the result of the achievement test.

The UNEP's high school department started its operations in 1948. So far, it had produced thousands of graduates who after college are now successful professionals and considered pillars in their own respective fields of endeavors.

Aside from the basic secondary education curriculum, UNEP high school department has adopted the Modified Dynamic Learning Program (MDLP), a novel way to give its students greater advantage in learning.
