No active tropical cyclone is present over the South China Sea, Philippine Sea and Western Pacific Ocean at this time. The rains are caused by two weak Low Pressure Areas (LPA) found within a broad monsoon trough within the Intertropical Convergence Zone running accross West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) the Philippine Islands into the the Philippine Sea.
The first LPA (tagged 94W) is located about 300 kilometers East Southeast of Basco, Batanes at coordinates 19.6 North Latitude 124.7 East Longitude. The second LPA (tagged 98W) is positioned near Western Catanduanes or about 45 kilometers North of Caramoan, Camarines Sur at coordinates 14.2 North Latitude 123.9 East Longitude.
These 2 LPAs are pulling the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) Rains across the Visayas, Bicol Region, Palawan and Soutwest Luzon including Mindoro and Marinduque.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon where scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected.
Tropical cyclone formation is possible along the North Philippine Sea near Batanes-Taiwan Area between July 08 to 13. The chance of developing a tropical cyclone in the area wihin the next 24 hours is a low 20 percent.
