Political clans are more entrenched after mid-term polls

The recycling of political dynasties was a foregone conclusion. Political dynasties, by and large, perpetuate themselves in power through elections made farcical by being undemocratic and now by an illegitimate automation process that is unable to modernize let alone democratize the public exercise that is administered by a hostile and incompetent election body.

I acknowledge the public apology given by Vice Ganda, by way of his TV program.

I sincerely hope and pray that this was done with the purest intentions and determination to put this issue behind us.

Just to clarify certain points about my phone conversation with him - his call came without warning as his number was not programmed in my phone directory. I told him I wasn't feeling well and I wasn't sure I was ready to talk to him. But I clearly remember thanking him for his call.

Aside from giving money, vote buying was also done in form of rice, food packs, mobile phones and even giving education scholarships.

Today marks the end of the campaign period for the May 13, 2013 elections. It is now our turn as voters to decide on whom to vote into office. For this, we suggest that we all vote WISELY, that is:

W - Weigh each candidate's qualifications, track record in public service or as a private citizen, over-all personal competencies and dedication to the common good, and proposed programs if elected.
