Capital town eyes P10 million windfall from operation of 4 auto companies

PILI, Camarines Sur – Four Japanese automobile companies have made their entry into this capital town with a bang with almost simultaneous constructions of their respective outlets and offices and the town of Pili is just happy to gain additional P10 million yearly from business taxes.

Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota and Isuzu are now applying the finishing touches to their big buildings along the national highway that traverses the barangays of Cadlan, Palestina and San Jose.

PILI, Camarines Sur (Oct 11, 2013) – The multi-awarded 'Cimmarones Festival' shall no longer be a feature of this capital town's 194th fiesta celebration this month as history experts claim that the 'Cimmarones' were in fact bandits and brigands who terrorized the natives in the 19th century and do not deserve to be honored with a festival.

Typhoon Santi to hit Aurora tonight

NAGA CITY, Philippines (9:00 AM Oct 11, 2013) - Typhoon Santi (Nari) now threatens Central and Northern Luzon - expected to make landfall in Aurora province tonight. In the past 12 hours, Santi accelerated its westward movement and has further intensified, bringing with it extreme rains (400 cm in 24 hours) that can trigger flash floods.

Tropical storm Santi (International name: NARI) is expected to pass north of the Bicol region as it threatens Central and Northern Luzon. Its outermost and southwestern rainbands are now spreading across Catanduanes and the Partido District of Camarines Sur. At 5:00 am today, the center of Santi was located over the Central Philippine Sea at about 430 km east-northeast of Pandan, Catanduanes or 655 km east-southeast of Casiguran, Aurora. It is currently moving northwest with an increased forward speed of 15 km/hr towards Central & Northern Luzon.

LTO chief Torres retires

MANILA, Philippines - Caught in a viral video controversy, Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Assistant Secretary Virginia Torres announced her retirement this month purportedly to put an end to issues plaguing the agency. "Para magkaroon ng katahimikan sa LTO, sa mga issues, I chose to retire," Torres said in a radio report Monday, denying that the Palace asked her to step down. Torres said that she personally informed President Benigno Aquino III and Transportation Secretary Emilio Abaya of her decision to leave her post.
