PILI, Camarines Sur – Four Japanese automobile companies have made their entry into this capital town with a bang with almost simultaneous constructions of their respective outlets and offices and the town of Pili is just happy to gain additional P10 million yearly from business taxes.
Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota and Isuzu are now applying the finishing touches to their big buildings along the national highway that traverses the barangays of Cadlan, Palestina and San Jose.
Pili town Mayor Alexis San Luis II said that the biggest edifice under construction is that of Toyota in barangay Cadlan. It has a customers’ lounge, playground for children, a restaurant, spare-parts store, maintenance and repairs area, display center and wide parking area.
According to San Luis, the four auto companies have already hired hundreds of construction workers as they rush to complete their edifices before the end of this year.
The four auto companies are projected to generate a combined income of least P360 Million a year from vehicle sales and services in the Bicol region and parts of Southern Tagalog Provinces and the host Pili town shall be getting at least 1% in business taxes, San Luis said.
The Mayor also said that in 2014 the San Miguel Group of Companies shall start operation of a feed mill and a dressing plant for chicken products that will be the biggest in South Luzon. Construction of the complex is ongoing at the Pili Diversion road.
Even before the onrush of these big investments, Pili has already been considered the Agri-industrial center of Camarines Sur being the site of PENSUMIL, the lone sugar central in Bicol, foam factory operated by Eurotex and giant warehouses.
Pili is also the center of palay trading in Bicol
Mayor San Luis added that the capital town does not compete with neighboring City of Naga, but acts in complimentary role to satisfy the demands for investments particularly in agriculture and industries. (SONNY SALES)
