Typhoon Santi lands in Aurora

Naga City (4:00 AM Oct 12, 2013) - Typhoon Santi (Neri) now moving fast at 33 km/hr made landfall over Aurora Province, near the town of Dingalan and one hour after its center was in the vicinity of Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) timed the landfall at 11 p.m; as of 12 a.m., the typhoon's center was in the vicinity of Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija on its way to Tarlac and Zambales. Strong winds and heavy rains continues to be felt across Central Luzon. Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have increased to 195 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. Typhoon Force Winds (118 km/hr or more) extend outward up to 75 kilometers from the center and Tropical Storm Force Winds (63-117 km/hr) extend outward up to 165 kilometers.

Nari (Santi) remains an average-sized tropical cyclone with a diameter of 610 kilometers. The 24-hour rainfall accumulation near the center is estimated to be extreme (320 mm).

TY Nari (Santi) is expected to continue moving westerly with an increase in forward speed in the next 24 hours, slowing down through 48 hours.

On the forecast track, the core of Nari (Santi) will be traversing Nueva Ecija and move across Tarlac and Pangasinan early Saturday morning.

Nari (Santi) will then be emerging over the West Philippine Sea after crossing Zambales by Saturday morning.

By Saturday evening through Sunday, the typhoon will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) - passing along the Scarborough (Panatag) Shoal in the West Philippine Sea. (From typhoon2000.com and philstar.com)
