Early this month we stated that in order to begin saving Lake Buhi, the strict implementation of the Fisheries Code provision that only 10 percent of the total area of any lake be occupied by fish cages ought to be effected. This, we admitted, had very troubling direct consequences to the economy of Buhi where majority of the inhabitants are largely dependent on the fishing industry.

Hit by train, toddler loses leg

NAGA CITY-A two-year-old toddler in this city lost a leg when he was ran over by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train Friday (November 20) morning. According to a report of the Barangay Tabuco substation of the Naga City Police Office, victim James Silvino was hit by the train bound to Sipocot, Camarines Sur at about 9:30 AM after he had wandered off a portion of the railway in Barangay Triangulo while playing.

Bikol priests gather in Albay

BACACAY, Albay, Nov. 10, 2009- At least 400 priests from the Archdiocese of Caceres and the Dioceses Legazpi, Sorsogon, Daet, Masbate, Libmanan and Virac have gathered at the Bethlehem Retreat Center, this town for their regional clergy retreat which began yesterday and will end on Friday.
