NAGA CITY (5 November) - JEEPNEY PASSENGERS arriving at the North bound terminal here early dawn today reported that the provincial road leading to the towns of Tinambac, Siruma and the port locality of Tamban had been blocked by landslide along Sitio Hubo of Barangay Bulao-Balite in Tinambac, Cam. NAGA CITY (5 November) - THE NEW LEADERSHIP of the Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO II) Board of Directors has vehemently opposed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by City Mayor Jesse Robredo and the former CASURECO II board president, Msgr. Zosimo Ma. Sañado, granting some twenty-five percent (25%) discount on the monthly bills of the City streetlights, despite the existing outstanding arrears of some P 125-Million in unpaid power bills.

MANILA, Oct. 29, 2009- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has accredited the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) as its citizen's arm for the May 2010 elections. In an en banc resolution dated Oct. 26, the Comelec noted that for the past several years, the Catholic Church-backed poll watchdog has consistently worked for credible elections.

Caceres priests forbidden from running for public office –Archbishop Legaspi

Naga City (29 October) - Annoyed by rumors that some priests in his jurisdiction are being enjoined to run for public office, Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi declared in a homily that priests in the Archdiocese of Caceres are forbidden from seeking public posts this coming May 2010 Elections.

Pity the oil companies?

MANILA - When President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Executive Order No. 839 on October 23 ordering oil companies to roll back pump prices in areas affected by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng to October 15 levels, the Big Three - Petron, Caltex, and Shell - warned of supply shortages and negative effects in planned investments. They did comply, albeit grudgingly, by lowering prices in Luzon but increasing pump prices in Visayas and Mindanao.
